Job Summary
Position Description

The Department of Bioengineering in the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) invites applications for the TI Distinguished University Chair in Bioengineering, a tenure-system faculty position at the rank of Professor. The TI Distinguished University Chair will play a lead role in the development of joint research collaborations among faculty in the Department of Bioengineering at UT Dallas, the Department of Biomedical Engineering at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and other departments at UT Dallas and UT Southwestern. The new TI Biomedical Engineering and Sciences building on the campus of UT Southwestern Medical Center, which opened in fall 2023, brings together faculty from UT Dallas and UT Southwestern to engage in innovative translational research.
Candidates must demonstrate a record of excellence in research, teaching, and service. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses in the core curriculum and in the candidate’s specialization. In addition to teaching, an active research program and service to UT Dallas and/or the professional community is expected. All candidates are expected to work effectively in a highly collaborative environment to build a world-class department and university.
Qualifications
Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent in Bioengineering/Biomedical Engineering or related disciplines, such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Materials Science, Physics, or Mathematics, and conduct research relevant to Bio/Biomedical Engineering. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. We are seeking candidates able to produce research and scholarly or creative achievements that enhance the program and the discipline, and able to deliver high quality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage students from a range of backgrounds and experiences.
The Department

The Department of Bioengineering at UT Dallas was founded in 2010 and has grown to be the largest Biomedical Engineering program in North Texas. The department offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Biomedical Engineering. The Bioengineering Department is the 12th largest undergraduate program in the US according to ASEE. The proximity of UT Dallas to the UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and our joint graduate program offers outstanding opportunities for collaborative research.
UT Dallas is situated in Richardson, TX, one of the most attractive suburbs in the Dallas metropolitan area. The University sits near the telecom corridor, home to several hundred high-technology companies that provide opportunities for joint university-industry collaborations.

Terminal degree in the academic discipline and a record of productivity and professional achievement.
