About the Position


The Thought Leadership Strategist works with internal and external stakeholders to craft University narratives, messaging and associated content that help a wide variety of audiences better understand University of Phoenix and its mission and values.  The individual manages data-driven thought leadership programs and supports external distribution campaigns to reach and engage audiences. The Thought Leadership Strategist conducts research using external resources, academic materials, and subject matter experts within University of Phoenix and synthesizes findings to write content that provides thought leadership on a variety of topics.  Additionally, the individual creates content to support digital reputation strategies, national and local media relations campaigns, social media, and executive visibility.


 

What You’ll Do:

1. Lead the day-to-day execution of thought leadership programs, including conducting research using internal and external sources to support the development of publishable white papers and other formats, content development and support materials, and external distribution campaigns. 

2. Conduct primary and secondary research to discern consumer and industry trends and identify opportunities for the University’s brand to participate in news cycles. Coordinate with research vendors and external agencies to uncover relevant data to support external storytelling on behalf of University of Phoenix and opportunistically participate in news cycles.

3. Regularly collaborate with external communications team members and relevant subject matter experts to identify desired headlines and narratives to advance the brand before multi-stakeholder audiences. 

4. Support the development of a wide range of external communications content and support materials, including news releases, alumni profiles, sponsored content, white papers, infographics, social media posts, bylines, and talking points.

5. Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:


• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing, Business or equivalent field

• Nine (9) years of Journalism, Communications and/or PR experience with proficiency working on communications or marketing-based research projects

 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:


• Highly proficient in prioritizing and balancing both timely and strategic work simultaneously

• Experience with prompt writing or using AI for ideation or optimization

• Combination of reactive and proactive media relations experience, with agency experience a plus

• Communications-based research acumen and project-management experience

• Strong writer with track record of creating multi-channel content

• Executive presence and partnership skills with a track-record of leading through both influence and authority

• Proficiency in planning and executing video interviews with thought leaders and researchers

• Demonstrated ability to adhere to high standards in every aspect of work

• Proficiency in PowerPoint and the ability to communicate data in a visually compelling way

• Intellectually curious, embracing challenges with a creative, problem-solving mindset

Pay Range


The annual pay range for this position is $73,400 (minimum), $110,900 (midpoint), and $148,400 (maximum).*


*Typical hiring range is between the minimum and midpoint of the above pay range. Actual starting base pay may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, location and budget.
