Description of Work Unit | Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation’s leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. Located an hour north of the Denver metro area, Fort Collins is a vibrant community of approximately 157,000 residents that offers the convenience of a small town with all the amenities of a large city. Fort Collins is situated on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains with views of 14,000 foot peaks, and offers access to numerous cultural, recreational, and outdoor opportunities. The Temple Grandin Equine Center (TGEC) is located in the Department of Animal Sciences. The Department of Animal Sciences has the unique mission of serving Colorado’s large and diverse livestock industries. Research, teaching, and extension outreach activities in the Department of Animal Sciences focus on developing industry leaders and improving profitable production of horses and food animals through the application of science and technology, resource management and food product enhancement, with emphasis on addressing societal issues concerning food safety, product quality and value, animal care and management, and environmental impacts of animal agriculture. |
Position Summary | This position will administer all aspects of the TGEC volunteer program including recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers, and perform all tasks to manage the volunteer needs for all appointments and special events. As the Adaptive Horsemanship Instructor, this position will be responsible for teaching adaptive horsemanship lessons, individual and group, and will work with all staff, other providers, and volunteers in accordance with facility policies. |
