The University of Iowa and College of Education is hiring for the position of Test Development Associate, Mathematics with Iowa Testing Programs. Position will develop materials for use in assessments to support research needs in Mathematics. The position will contribute to the success of statewide achievement testing programs by developing standardized achievement tests for district, state, or national use, providing consultation and administration of testing programs, and conducting research studies involving practical and theoretical aspects of test development and use.


Type of Position:
Type of Appointment: Full-time, 12-month, Professional and Scientific position, specified term, may be appointed to a 3-year initial term, May be eligible for renewal.


Location: On-site, remote, or hybrid. This position is eligible for hybrid or remote work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.


Specific Job Duties and Tasks

  • Assist with and/or develop materials closely aligned to relevant state and national standards for use in a variety of assessment programs.
  • Assist in development of interpretative materials to accompany standardized achievement tests as assigned.
  • Assist with and/or develop materials to be evaluated for use in assessments and other instruments to support research needs.
  • Work effectively with external consultants including Iowa educators on development and review of materials.
  • Create accurate contract and payment requests and assist management in tracking expenditures.

About Iowa Testing Program


For over 90 years, Iowa Testing Programs (ITP) mission has been to serve Iowa schools' assessment needs by developing high-quality instruments and to work with schools to promote valid use of results.


Education Requirement

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Math Education, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience, is required. Typical experience is a minimum of two years.


Required Qualifications

  • Two years or more of teaching experience in Grades 3-12 Mathematics content area in Iowa is required.
  • Experience in interpretation and application of the Iowa Academic Standards in Mathematics is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a welcoming and respectful workplace environment is required.


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience creating materials for large scale Grades 3-12 assessments is desired.
