Full-time Faculty Positions

Full-time faculty positions will be posted on a per-opening basis. Postings are organized by college/school and department. Applicants will be evaluated at the college/school level for the position which they are submitting an application.  Unless noted by a close date, positions will remain open until they are filled. Part-time Faculty Positions

DePaul University invites expressions of interest for a pool of qualified Part Time Faculty to teach courses in a variety of disciplines across all 10 colleges and schools. Individuals may enter expressions of interest by submitting their credentials to any posting for which they are qualified to teach. Postings are organized by college/school and department.  Screening of individuals in the pool is ongoing, depending on curricular need and funding.  Individuals will be contacted by the department if they reach the finalist stage for teaching a particular course or set of courses. The pool will remain in place until the closing date specified in the posting details; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must resubmit.  All individuals in the pool will be notified by email when the posting is closed.

Responsibilities:

The Theatre School at DePaul University invites applications for a one-year full-time Voice and Speech position effective July 1, 2024, with instruction beginning in September 2024. The Theatre School is an urban multicultural conservatory located in the heart of Chicago's vibrant theatre community. The ideal candidate will be collegial, passionate about teaching, collaborating, and contributing as part of a faculty re-shaping our conservatory for the current/future field on stage, screen, and in new media.

The Theatre School, located on the university’s Lincoln Park campus two miles north of the Chicago Loop, enrolls 460 students in 15 undergraduate and 2 graduate programs. Our faculty (27 full-time and 60 part-time) includes leading Chicago theatre artists across all disciplines. Faculty members are active participants in the vibrant Chicago theatre community

Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to):

• Teaching 8 classes a year (The Theatre School operates on a ten-week quarter system);
• Dialect and Voice Coaching for TTS Productions;
• Advising students on academic progress;
• Mentoring and advising on student production work.

Required Qualifications:

Candidates for consideration will possess the following qualifications:

• Evidence of teaching experience that can translate to undergraduate training;
• An MFA/PhD or extensive professional experience equivalent to a terminal degree.
• Demonstrated success with mentoring talent at early stages of professional artistic development;
• A current, ongoing, and recognized theatrical practice of at least 5 years;
• Evidence of a multi-cultural perspective in candidate’s body of work, including working with diverse populations;
• Demonstrated expertise in one or more voice pedagogies, including, but not limited to: Fitzmaurice, Roy Hart, Lessac, Linklater, or Rodenburg. Ability to teach speech, phonetics, dialects, and/or Heightened Language. Expertise in non-western voice pedagogy and practice is valued.
• Evidence of commitment to collegiality and collaboration
