The Department of History at the University of Alaska Anchorage invites applications for the position of term instructor. The Department of History offers a baccalaureate and minor degree in History and hosts graduate-level courses. We seek an individual who will complement our department’s instructional strengths in United States, European, or Alaska history. This position has an emphasis on teaching and community partnerships. In particular, the successful applicant will teach survey courses, upper division courses in their area of expertise, and potentially work with area high schools to implement dual enrollment history courses. The successful applicant will have experience and demonstrated success in teaching both in the classroom and virtually.

To thrive in this role, the applicant should be a dynamic classroom instructor with a passion for teaching history at the postsecondary level. The applicant must value diversity in the classroom and practice current pedagocial and adragogical methods that facilitate student success.

Minimum Qualifications:

Preferred applicants will have a PhD in History and experience teaching college students in online and in-person environments. Applicants who are ABD are welcome to apply, but must complete their PhD within the first year of their employment with the university.

This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, Term Assistant Professor position. Salary will be based upon applicable academic preparation and experience complete with a competitive employee benefits package:
