Term Assistant Instructor or Assistant Professor of Native Art

A successful candidate should have advanced level knowledge of Alaska Native culture, arts and traditions. A candidate must be able to communicate with and enlist the help of elders as needed to enhance programming. Applicants should have evidence of a commitment to collegiality, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The candidate should specialize in 3-D art making techniques and have an interest in contemporary technical processes, such as CNC Router and 3D printing. A successful candidate must be able to demonstrate involvement in teaching community workshops, artist demonstrations, and apprenticeships/mentorships. The candidate should possess a desire to help students succeed in reaching their goals. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Demonstrated involvement in teaching community workshops, artist demonstrations, apprenticeships/mentorships. One year of college/university level teaching experience. Evidence of creative and professional accomplishments with a trajectory towards developing a national reputation.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants for this position must have completed a Masters of Fine Arts Degree in Native Arts or equivalent experience.

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, Term Instructor or Assistant Professor position. Salary will be based upon applicable academic preparation and experience complete with a competitive employee benefits package :
