Summary

The University Of Michigan School of Dentistry invites qualified applications for two (2) full-time Tenure Track faculty positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine.


This is an outstanding opportunity to join a vibrant, growing, and well-established department with state-of-the-art research and clinical facilities. The Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine is inclusive, diverse, creative, and dynamic with strong faculty on the tenure and clinical tracks. Current research foci include bone biology and regenerative medicine, tissue and bone augmentation, the human microbiome and its role in maintaining health or causing disease, cancer biology and therapeutics including oral cancer, diagnostic indicators of periodontal and peri-implant disease and its relation to systemic health, clinical research and behavioral/educational research. There is a long history of collaborative multidisciplinary research and many faculty hold joint appointments within the university; i.e., Medical School and College of Engineering. Faculty also have the opportunity to actively participate in well-established PhD programs in Oral Health Sciences and the Program in Biomedical Sciences, which includes 14 doctoral programs. In addition, opportunities are available for participation in the Michigan-Pittsburgh-Wyss Resource Center: Supporting Regenerative Medicine in Dental, Oral and Craniofacial Technologies, the Michigan Center for Musculoskeletal Health and the Biointerfaces Institute.

Applicants should have a PhD or DDS/PhD (or equivalent degrees) and an outstanding record of accomplishment in one or more of the following areas: microbiome, cancer biology, bone biology, or tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an independent research program supported by external peer-reviewed funding, contribute to the teaching mission of the School and have a demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion in research or academic endeavors.

Underfill Statement

The successful candidate will be appointed on the tenure track at the rank of assistant or associate professor with a recruitment package commensurate with experience and credentials.
