Job Description

The College of Arts & Sciences (COAS) at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University–Worldwide Campus (ERAU-W) seeks a tenure-track assistant professor in Human Factors. Candidates will hold a Ph.D. in Human Factors, Applied Experimental Psychology, Physiology, Cognition, or a related psychology discipline specific to human factors domains and a demonstrated competency in human factors-related studies and practices. Candidates should have demonstrated experience and training in Human Factors, Human Factors Psychology, Physiology, Ergonomics, and/or Human Factors Engineering.

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to conduct a solid and vigorous research program that attracts external funding, complementing ongoing research in the department. Preference will be given to candidates whose research and teaching interests align with college areas of expertise in human factors, safety and emergency, disaster and global security studies and who can teach a bandwidth of courses serving departmental needs in human factors studies (e.g. human factors, methods, ergonomics, cognition, and human performance). Service responsibilities include participation on departmental, college, and/or university committees.

The successful candidate will maintain an exemplary level of research and scholarly activity. ERAU offers a variety of internal research support programs, including college- and university-level funding opportunities. Service responsibilities for this candidate are likely to include a leadership role helping to develop a minor in Human Factors upon establishment of the major degree program as well as participation on departmental, college, and/or university committees.

The Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences currently serves as the home for the M.S. in Human Factors and Occupational Safety Management; the B.S. in Safety Management; Minors in Economics, Psychology, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Foundations in Research Inquiry, and Occupational Safety and Health; and provides foundational economics, psychology, and safety courses that support general education requirements and prerequisites to other degree programs.
