Overview
The Rutgers Division of Intercollegiate Athletics sponsors 24 intercollegiate sports, comprised of 14 women’s and 10 men’s programs, that compete at the Division I level. The Scarlet Knights are members of the prestigious Big Ten Conference, the nation’s premier academic and athletic conference, after officially joining the league on July 1, 2014. Known as “The Birthplace of College Football, Rutgers hosted Princeton on Nov. 6, 1869 in the first intercollegiate football game, with RU earning a 6-4 victory.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Tennis Assistant Coach for Athletics. Under the direct supervision of the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach will be responsible for helping with coaching activities at practice and competition.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Support the coordination of Women’s Tennis intercollegiate athletic program which provides an opportunity for student-athletes to participate on a competitive, Division I women’s tennis team while attending school to earn a college degree.
  • This position will be primarily responsible for on-court coaching.
  • Assist in preparing players through individual and team practices to compete against top level collegiate programs.
  • This person must have a strong understanding of tennis including technical form, tactical concepts, and mental strategies.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 1 year of collegiate tennis coaching experience or playing experience.

  • Strong understanding of tennis including technical form, tactical concepts, and mental strategies

Special Conditions
  • Assistant coach will work 1-2 days/week during practices. Rutgers team practices are held from 8am-11am. Ideally, this person would also be available to coach home matches, which are held Fridays-Sundays.
