This Position:  

 

The Videoconferencing Facilities Assistant reports to the Distance Education Strategic Operations Manager. The Distance Education Technologies Team provides uninterrupted, real-time, mission-critical operations to remote videoconference learning centers for the Cornell Executive MBA Americas program.

This position supports studio staff in Ithaca, NY and provides a welcoming, professional, customer-service approach to students in the Washington, DC learning center location.

The Videoconferencing Facilities Assistant primarily works 4 hour days on Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am – Noon (normally two weekends a month). Reliability is essential - this position plays an important role in the successful delivery of the program.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Provide administrative support to faculty on class days.
  • Ensure the videoconferencing rooms maintain a professional look and feel and are ready for class. Specific steps include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • Ensure HVAC or Heat is working
    • Ensure access to the building is available
    • All equipment is turned on.
    • The rooms are orderly with trash removed.
    • Kitchen is clean, dishes are done, and garbage has been removed.
    • Bathroom is clean
    • Kitchen and bathroom are stocked properly
    • Coordinate with appropriate building staff to address related issues.
    • Check with Studio staff to verify videoconferencing rooms are ready for class
    • Coordinate special requests with Studio staff.
    • Orient new students to the facility and ensure they have appropriate access.
    • Assist the studio operations manager as necessary to resolve any issues.
    • Monitor email and phones while on site. During the week, respond to email and phone calls within 24 hours.
    • Staff other Cornell events as required.
    • Create a learning center report that contains summary of the following:
    • State of the facility, both technical and non-technical
    • Inventory of supplies
    • Issues related to the students
    • Attendance
