Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering 

The Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Department is one of the largest academic units at Missouri S&T and supports both undergraduate and graduate education. The department conducts instruction, laboratory activities, and sponsored research across a broad range of engineering areas and secures substantial research funding to support these efforts. Facilities provide opportunities for hands-on learning and research engagement, contributing to both instructional and scholarly activity. Ongoing and future initiatives, including the Protoplex building, expand research and collaboration space for students, faculty, and industry partners.

The university is seeking a Temporary Technician to manage a multidisciplinary research project focused on the design, fabrication, testing, and evaluation of optimized lattice-reinforced structural materials. The project involves lattice structure optimization for structural applications, concrete specimen fabrication, additive manufacturing, CAD design, blast and ballistic testing, experiment planning, instrumentation, and data interpretation.

The Temporary Technician will be responsible for coordinating day-to-day research activities, assisting with technical design and fabrication tasks, managing experiment workflows, and supporting the analysis and documentation of research results.
 

The ideal candidate will have a bachelors degree in nuclear engineering and 4 years of hands-on experience with lattice structures, blast and ballistics testing, concrete materials, additive manufacturing processes, CAD modeling, stress/strain instrumentation, and structural testing of novel samples in experimental loading conditions.

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $18.00 hourly. 

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
