Hours: 40 hrs. per week

Position Summary:

The University of South Florida's Introduction to Production Systems Certificate Program is seeking a Teaching Laboratory Specialist to join their team. The certificate program has been designed to enhance the skill set of adult learners by disseminating knowledge related to CNC machining, 3D printing, assembly and production systems, programmable logic controllers, robotics and automation. The Teaching Laboratory Specialist will provide technical support services to the instructional staff and students of the program. Application of practical knowledge of laboratory equipment use and laboratory safety procedures is expected.

Responsibilities will include:

-Sets up equipment and/or materials for teaching laboratory exercises and demonstrates equipment use to students.

-Initiates purchase orders for laboratory supplies and equipment.

-Maintains an inventory of supplies in teaching laboratory.

-Prepares and distributes CAD models, G-code, documentation, software packages, and equipment for the use of students.

-Enforces safety codes for students in the lab, making sure that they wear proper protective clothing and follow safety protocols.

-Demonstrates safe and effective use of equipment such as calipers, micrometers, sensors, actuators, 3D printers, and robotic systems.

-Calibrates and oversees maintenance of laboratory equipment. Conducts preventative maintenance inspections and initiates repair requests as needed.

- Effectively communicates with the instructors and program team to address questions, provide clarifications, and gather feedback on the work performed.

- Supplement the course material and equipment documentation with content in Spanish to support English-speaking learners. Collaborate with project team to review and edit translated materials, ensuring the content's integrity and alignment with the intended learning outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):

Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires high school and two years of work experience in instructional or laboratory work. College coursework may be substituted for the required experience.
