Job Description:

Job Summary:

This temporary position is to support the Institute for Population and Precision Health (IPPH) data research and IT efforts for our research programs in 2023. This position is largely remote, with the possibility of in-person tasks in the IPPH offices at the University of Chicago Medical Center in Hyde Park. The primary functions of the position will be to assist in data collection and analysis for the All of Us Research Program (All of Us) and the Chicago Multiethnic Prevention and Surveillance Study (COMPASS). This Temporary Student Research Assistant (SRA) will assist program investigators and staff in data collection, cleaning, and analysis. The SRA may also assist in developing the IPPH Electronic Research Management System (ERMS) in Python and TypeScript.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist program investigators and staff in data collection, cleaning, and analysis Aid in enrollment for research programs. That will entail helping potential participants that have technological difficulties.

  • Assist in developing the IPPH Electronic Research Management System (ERMS) in Python and TypeScript.

  • Conduct follow-up phone calls to research participants.   

  • Learn and understand the IPPH research programs.

  • Distribute marketing materials or set up areas to leave marketing materials to current and potential partners.

  • Perform specific protocol procedures (data management, survey/questionnaire administration and the like) required to conduct the study and retain research subjects.

  • Understands protocols and may collect information about adverse events (AEs), identified in the protocol or investigator brochure.

  • Prepares for or participate in quality assurance audits under close supervision or following specific protocol procedures.

  • Participates in study-related documentation, such as protocol worksheets, procedural manuals, adverse event reports, institutional review board documents, or progress reports.

  • Performs other related work as needed.

Education, Experience, or Certifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED required.

  • Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student at any university, required.

  • Must be able to meet with the IPPH team virtually or in-person, required.

Experience:

  • For current students, we are looking for candidates that are currently enrolled in any science or communication related field of study, though all majors are welcome to apply, required.

Technical Knowledge or Skills:

  • Analytical skills.

  • Problem-solving skills.

  • Organizational skills.

  • Verbal and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
