Description:

This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (approximately 18 hours per week) Education Program Assistant I position for the Division of Extension and Engagement's, Family and Community Health Program in association with the College of Health at Oregon State University (OSU). This position is located in Portland, Oregon.
This part-time (.45 FTE) temporary Education Program Assistant 1 (EPA) supports the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – Education (SNAP-Ed) Program. SNAP-Ed is a nutrition education program in Extension Family and Community Health (FCH) affiliated with OSU's College of Health. The EPA serves Multnomah County and is based at the Extension Multnomah office in Portland, Oregon.
Extension educators provide evidence-based interventions through SNAP-Ed, a nutrition education and physical activity programs targeting SNAP eligible audiences. Programs are designed to promote healthy eating habits and a physically active lifestyle. All programming is done in collaboration with community partners, such as schools, food banks and pantries, farmers markets and government and non-profit agencies. Funding is provided in part by USDA's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) through a contract with Oregon Department of Human Services.
The EPA will work under the supervision of the SNAP-Ed Managing Faculty Member for Multnomah County, and will support implementation of Food Hero nutrition-education activities at farmer's markets. Specifically, this temporary position will be responsible for delivering youth activities at two farmers markets on a weekly basis. This position requires travel to various sites Multnomah County.

Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):

High School Diploma or equivalent and at least two years of relevant experience (paid or volunteer), supporting community programs that serve children, youth, or adults OR Associate Degree and one year of work experience (paid or volunteer) which must be working in youth development programs, adult education, teaching, program delivery or related functions. AND Demonstrated oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated skill to work with diverse audiences. Demonstrated skill to use computers for word processing, data management, and communications. Incumbent must successfully complete a criminal background check and be deemed fit for duty at placement and while serving in the position.

Requirements :

• Demonstrated ability to work as a collaborative member of a team.
• Demonstrated experience working as a team member with other professionals and/or volunteers.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.

Type:

Access to a vehicle is necessary as duties will require travel to various sites in Multnomah to deliver the programs and transporting curriculum materials. Business mileage will be reimbursed based on OSU policies. For information on vehicle use: https://risk.oregonstate.edu/vehicles .
Flexibility to perform work in a variety of office and work settings including farmer's markets. Must be able to work weekends and evenings, specifically on Sundays and Wednesday evenings.
Performs outreach duties primarily between 9 am – 3 pm on Sundays and 2 pm – 8 pm on Wednesdays.
