Employee Assistance Counseling Center Counselor

Summary: The Employee Assistance Counseling Center Counselor is responsible for providing confidential counseling services to employees dealing with personal and work-related issues. This role involves assessing individuals' needs, providing short-term counseling, and referring clients to appropriate resources when necessary. The counselor also plays a crucial role in promoting mental health awareness and providing training and support to management and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct confidential counseling sessions with employees facing personal or work-related challenges.
  • Assess clients' needs and develop appropriate treatment plans or interventions.
  • Provide crisis intervention services when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions and client progress.
  • Collaborate with HR and management to address workplace issues affecting employee well-being.
  • Offer support and guidance to employees dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and other mental health concerns.
  • Conduct workshops, training sessions, or seminars on topics related to mental health, stress management, work-life balance, and conflict resolution.
  • Stay updated on best practices and emerging trends in employee assistance counseling and mental health services.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to ethical guidelines in counseling practice.
  • Participate in supervision, team meetings, and continuing education activities as required.

    Qualifications

     
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree or higher in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed or certified counselor (e.g., LPC, LCSW, LMFT) preferred.
  • Previous experience in counseling, preferably in an employee assistance program or similar setting.
  • Strong assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations pertaining to counseling and mental health services.
  • Experience in crisis intervention and risk assessment.
  • Understanding of workplace dynamics and organizational behavior.
  • Proficiency in using counseling techniques and evidence-based interventions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and self-care practices.
