Temporary Senior Research Project Manager

The Institute for Behavioral Health seeks a temporary Senior Research Project Manager (SRPM) to provide research project management, oversee data collection and analysis, and coordinate community engagement efforts for a project of the Massachusetts Drug Supply Data Stream (MADDS) and Rapid Assessment of Consumer Knowledge (RACK) studies that is focused on naloxone access and uptake.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

The Senior Research Project Manager will work as part of a team to:

  • Work with Community Engagement and Harm Reduction Manager to execute project tasks related to community data collection work, incorporating community-driven and community engaged research principles
  • Engage in quantitative (survey) and qualitative (interviews) design, data collection, and analysis
  • Supervise administrative and research assistant staff in scheduling and coordinating data collection
  • Oversee qualitative coding and analysis of interview data.  Experience with qualitative software and analysis is preferred.
  • Work with the Principal Investigator and data analyst to direct and track the quantitative data analysis of survey data.  Experience with SPSS, R or SAS is preferred.
  • Prepare summaries and communications on research findings for community presentation, policy maker summaries, and scientific research audiences (e.g., abstracts for conferences, slide decks, academic papers)
  • Represent the project team in public meetings
  • Coordinate weekly project meetings to record action steps and manage team tasks.
  • Track project spending and provide updates on a regular basis to stay on budget.
  • Support federal, state, and foundation grant writing tasks for pursuit of next-step funding

Skills and Experience Requirements:

The candidate must have strong organizational and time-management skills, must be detailed oriented and focused. Must have experience working in harm reduction settings and/or the ability to treat with dignity people who use drugs and people who are in recovery. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are necessary. Experience managing and working on complex research projects, including budgetary oversight, is required.  Quantitative and/or qualitative data management and analysis skills are required. Training is available for candidate. A Master’s degree is required plus 5-7 years of experience.
