The Department of Biology at St. Catherine University invites applications for a temporary Roy Laboratory Research Assistant. This position is grant funded.
The undergraduate college at St. Catherine University (St. Kate's) is one of only six US institutions that is both a women's college and a minority serving institution. Based in the Twin Cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis, MN, St. Kate's is the home to a diverse group of around $3,500 students in a varying disciplines and degree levels. This is a lead research position in the School of Biology in which the individual will be responsible for biochemical analysis of pollen and nectar samples collected as part of a LCCMR funded research project in collaboration with the Chicago Botanical garden. This position would also involve training incoming student research assistants to the protocols, updating lab protocols, inventory management, report writing and data analysis.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree.
  • Recent Biology graduate, should have taken plant biology upper level.
  • Must be able to train in new students joining the research team.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Self motivated and deadline driven.
  • Ability to effectively communicate results to a scientific audience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior research experience with biochemical spectrophotometric assays.
  • Proficiency in optimizing assays, maintaining records and use Excel for data analysis.
