    Position overview
    Position title: Project Scientist Series
    Salary range: The posted UC system-wide salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. See Table
    38B for the salary range at UCSB. A reasonable estimate at 100% time for this position is $93,100-$212,300. “Off-scale salaries” and other components of pay, i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.
    Percent time: Vary from part-time to full-time.
    Anticipated start: Appointments are subject to availability of funding and departmental needs.
    Review timeline: Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed.
    Position duration: Range from short term to long term.

    Position description

    The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering invites applications for temporary research positions (Project Scientist Series). The Project Scientist position requires demonstrated significant, original, and creative contributions to a research or creative program or project. Appointments are subject to availability of funding and departmental needs. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies depending on the needs of the department. Temporary research positions may vary from part-time to full-time and may range from short term to long term. Applicants must resubmit a new application letter each year beginning November 1 to retain eligibility.

    Qualifications
    Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

    Applicants must have a PhD (or equivalent) or completed all requirements for a PhD except the dissertation at the time of application in engineering, or the physical or biological sciences.


    Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

    PhD by time of appointment


    Preferred qualifications

    Desired qualifications include an outstanding research record or demonstrated independent research in the areas of: Computer Engineering, Communications, Control & Signal Processing, or Electronics and Photonics.
