About the Department

The Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Section primarily provides clinical care for patients including treatment of infertility, fertility preservation with egg and sperm freezing, and management of other reproductive hormonal disorders. Our section has three physicians and we are looking for a laboratory director for our andrology laboratory. We currently have one full time andrology lab technician.

Job Summary:

Performs senior-level lab and/or clinical program-related duties and tasks. Performs lead role in laboratory, tissue banking, fertility preservation and inspection readiness projects. Oversees implementation of projects, including planning new procedures, adapting existing procedures to the needs of the clinic, and makes significant contributions to methodology. Oversees testing, data collection, evaluation, and analysis. Writes reports, SOPs and Quality Management documents. Trains and oversees the work of clinical lab support personnel. Responsibilities may include the following laboratory duties: independently performing complex technical duties; recognizing abnormal results and varying conditions or procedures to correct problems; monitoring and troubleshooting equipment; overseeing the ordering of supplies and maintenance of laboratory inventory; and ensuring laboratory compliance with all safety requirements; reporting outcomes to relevant regulatory agencies  and maintaining compliance with applicable state and federal regulations for laboratory testing and tissue banking; preparing the lab for inspections and interacting with inspectors.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain andrology laboratory service for the University. 
  • Evaluates new protocols and testing for consideration and assists with identification and comparison to standard of care.
  • Coordinates all start-up activities of new laboratory testing or services.
  • Provide oversight of all clinical testing, tissue banking activities and outcomes tracking for existing and new programs.
  • Provide input and implement services to support fertility preservation efforts including methodologies that are part of clinical research studies and standard of care for patients seeking these services.  Supervise testing and tissue banking interventions including scheduling, follow up, regulatory reporting, patient follow up as needed and database entry and maintenance. 
  • Prepare and participate in all regulatory and compliance related site visits, assist clinical staff and appropriate departmental, and laboratory staff in collection, storage, and shipment and receipt of patient specimens.
  • Provides technical and administrative support for a research project.
  • Collects and enters data. Assists in analyzing data. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.
  • Assists with the installation, sets up and performs experiments; interacting with students and other laboratory staff under the direction of the principal investigator.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Competencies:

  • CLIA laboratory regulations for high complexity laboratories required.


Additional Requirements ​​
 

Education, Experience, or Certifications:

Education:

  • Ph.D. degree required.

Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years of clinical experience in a clinical laboratory setting required.

Licenses or Certifications:

  • HCLD certification in Andrology required.
