Position Information
Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit | The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, founded in 1975, is one of 49 National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the country. The Center’s mission is to reduce cancer occurrence and death in North Carolina and the nation through research, treatment, training and outreach. |

Position Summary | The Temporary Social/Clinical Research Assistant will independently manage the study operations for a psychosocial oncology intervention trial. This position is responsible for the screening, recruitment, and consenting of study participants in accordance with the protocol and follow-up interactions with study participants. Follow-up study interactions include data collection and management, abstracting data per study procedures, and maintaining regulatory compliance. This position is also responsible for creating and maintaining a warm and friendly atmosphere for the study participants so that they are amenable to completing the project. This position will be supervised by the Principal Investigator and will include scheduled and unscheduled meetings to update investigators about study progress and needs. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements | Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | Excellent communication skills with ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of individuals. Ability to learn quickly, work independently, and prioritize tasks. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are also needed. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | Clinical research experience and/or experience working directly with patients; working knowledge of database management and spreadsheets, understanding of medical terminology with the ability to extract information and summarize patient data, qualitative methods (interviewing or analysis) experience is preferred. |
