Job Summary:

The Mansueto Institute for Urban Innovation at the University of Chicago invites applications for a temporary part-time position as Research Assistant beginning in the Winter of 2023. The position is an opportunity to work with Mansueto Faculty, Fellows and Staff members to assist in research activities related to a multi-year research project, entitled Community Research on Climate and Urban Science (CROCUS).  CROCUS is a flagship project from the US Department of Energy to create a network of  Urban Integrated Field Laboratories for the study of climate change in local urban communities across the US.

The Research Assistant will work with the Mansueto Institute on literature reviews, preparing and analyzing data, writing manuscripts, liaising with other project members, and organizing meetings. The work location is Chicago, IL and a hybrid work model can be instituted.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports daily activities of research projects.
  • Support activities to develop and maintain tools and methods needed to gather and analyze data.
  • Reviews, prepares reports and manuscripts.
  • Coordinate meetings with project teams.

Competencies:

  • Interest in urban science.
  • Exceptional oral and written communications skills.
  • Act as liaison between the Mansueto Institute and various partners.
  • Exceptional time, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to create distinctive presentations preferred.


Additional Requirements ​​
 

Education, Experience or Certifications:

Education:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university required.

Experience:

  • Knowledge and experience working with Argonne National Labs.

Technical Knowledge or Skills:

  • Experience working with quantitative and qualitative data sets.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint/Keynote as well as social media and web tools.
