Temporary Health Care Coordinator- Genesis Summer 2024

Genesis is a three-week residential program at Brandeis University for approximately 40-50 outstanding Jewish high school students from across the world. Students choose from one of two academic courses, taught by Brandeis-affiliated instructors. Courses meet for two hours each morning, Monday-Friday with time for Nesiyot (mini-courses) in the afternoons, and informal programming in the evenings and on Shabbat. Course work leads up to a capstone project. Genesis is an immersive, pluralistic Jewish community defined by educational collaboration, experimentation and community-building to create an exceptional growth experience for participants from around the world. 

Job Requirements

The Healthcare Coordinator is a temporary position, from mid-June through July 28, 2023. The Coordinator is on-campus Monday-Friday, and is on call throughout the program.  

The Healthcare Coordinator will:

  • Review health forms, flagging issues with medical histories, vaccination histories, medications, allergies and chronic health issues. This includes determining which students are missing documentation and following up to secure missing documentation;

  • Provide a 2-hour training on physical and mental health issues to staff/faculty during their orientation;

  • Attend move-in day on July 7 (Genesis) to meet with parents and students as needed;

  • Consult with, and advise program directors to discuss any health or well-being issues as needed, including issues that the Healthcare Coordinator flags; 

  • Provide in-person direction and support for students admitted to emergency rooms or urgent health care centers from the Precollege program. The Healthcare Coordinator is expected to meet and stay with students arriving at such facilities until discharge (including any medical appointments);

  • Oversee Genesis COVID 19 protocols as devised by Brandeis University;

  • Log health-related events in the appropriate information system;

  • Provide logistical and tactical support to the administrative team;

  • Other tasks as assigned by the Director of Genesis; 

  • Reports to the Director of Genesis.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants will be well-organized, thoughtful and committed to youth education, access to higher education and social justice.

  • Candidates must be licensed as a medical doctor, nurse, physician’s assistant, paramedic or Licensed Practical Nurse;

  • Experience in a residential setting such as a camp, school, college strongly preferred;

  • Organized, self-motivated, strong communication skills.

Compensation

$97.00 per hour plus $150 per on-call in-person visit/consultation.
