Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED and one year of related experience preparing simple meals and snacks, kitchen menus, working with food service vendors to order and accept deliveries of food and food service items. Set-up and preparation of food distribution for children in classrooms, complete forms for federal food program, and interactions with children and staff of the Early Learning Campus. The university offers market competitive salary and benefits. Grade NB. Wage Minimum $11.30/hr.
Position DescriptionThe Dietary Supervisor oversees meal planning and service to approximately 150 children ages six weeks to five years and ensures that all requirements of the Federal Food Program are fully met. This role is responsible for clean and healthy operation of the kitchen and for complying with Health Department criteria.
Responsibilities of the Dietary Supervisor include:
- Working with food service vendors to prepare menus that reflect multiple cultures and adhere to the
- Federal Food Program guidelines. Communicate fluctuating attendance and meal needs for holidays or special events.
- Prepare some light meals such as breakfast or snack. Supervise kitchen assistant to meet goals of Federal Food Program and distribution of food.
- Utilize Federal Food Program guidelines to prepare and distribute breakfast, lunch, and snack daily.
- Maintain documentation and complete forms for Federal Food Program including the annual application form and monthly justifications for CACFP reimbursement.
- Collaborate with families to determine special meal needs and develop a plan. Work cooperatively and
- courteously with co-workers and vendors. Consistently convey and follow ELC policies. Convey parent requests and concerns to Director and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Order food and food service items and accept deliveries. Monitor stock and place orders in a timely
- manner.
- Kentucky State Child licensing standards require all ELC staff to complete 6 hours of child care orientation within the first 90 days of employment, complete a total of 15 hours of state-approved training each year before hire date anniversary, and maintain current TB test.
