The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Temporary CUSPELL STEM Teachers (Summer Scholars) on the Gainesville campus. Provide content instruction and hands-on learning experiences in STEM areas for elementary (4-5) or middle school (6-8) students participating in the Summer Scholars STEM program. Provide guidance and supervision to UNG reservice teachers while implementing STEM concepts and practices. The program dates are May 1st, 2024 - June 30th, 2024.

  • Help create and review preservice teachers' STEM lesson plans and implementation in the Summer Scholars STEM Institute Program participants (emphasis on engineering using culturally sustaining pedagogies and translanguaging - English/Spanish).
  • Teach science, technology, and math (STEM) content using current methodologies.
  • Plan, help and participate in field trips.
  • Interact with students' guardians.
  • Create and maintain attendance and academic progress database and create grading rubrics and submit to program coordinator at the end of the program.
  • Participate in and contribute to daily planning sessions.
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Georgia Teaching Certificate required.
  • K-12 teaching and/or higher education teaching required.
  • Experience working with English learners required.
  • Science and Math teaching experience preferred.
