COMPENSATION:                $20 per hour/20 hours per week

REPORTS TO:    Director of Projects and Communications, Office of Institutional Equity

The University of Louisville is seeking a part time, temporary Communication and Marketing Specialist II for the Office of Institutional Equity.  This position will be responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive social media strategy to promote and enhance the division initiatives, programs, and events.  This role will play a vital part in advancing the university's commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment.  The position will report to and work closely with the Director of Projects and Communications to develop a plan that will effectively communicate the division's mission and engage with the university community and beyond through social media channels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy:  Develop and implement a strategic social media plan that aligns with the Institutional Equity division goals and objectives.
  • Content Creation:  Create a content calendar with engaging and relevant content for various social media platforms, including written posts, graphics, videos, and other multimedia content.
  • Monitoring and Analytics:  Set up a system to tract and report performance analytics.  Monitor social media trends and track engagement metrics to evaluate the success of social media campaigns and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Collaboration:  Collaborate with Institutional Equity staff, university departments, and student organizations to promote initiatives and events through social media channels.
  • Brand Representation:  Ensure that all social media content adheres to the university's brand guidelines and reflect the values of the Institutional Equity division.
  • Event Promotion:  Create and execute social media plans to promote Institutional Equity-related events, workshops, lectures, and conferences.
  • Holiday Promotion:  Create and execute social media plans to promote Institutional Equity-related cultural awareness recognitions, holidays, events, etc.
Skills and Competencies:

The preferred candidate will possess the following skills, competencies, and abilities:

  • Master's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or other related fields.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Proof of strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Graphic design and video editing are a plus.
  • Familiarity with social media analytics tools and the ability to interpret data to make informed decisions.
  • Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Creativity and a passion for promoting institutional equity.
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
