Position Summary
The Temporary Clinical Assistant, Doctor of Physical Therapy is responsible for seeing patients at an off campus clinical site located at the Methodist Healthcare Ministries Dixon Clinic.
This a full-time temporary position up to 32 hours per week.
The Temporary Clinical Assistant, Doctor of Physical Therapy reports to the Dean, School of Physical Therapy.

Essential Functions
  • Perform evaluations, re-evaluations, and treatments of patients.
  • Manage physical therapy clinical operations at Methodist Healthcare Ministries Dixon Clinic.
  • Maintain contemporary currency in areas of practice.
  • Act as supervising physical therapy to physical therapy assistant.
  • Schedule and re-schedule clients.
  • Communicate with other healthcare providers concerning patient care.
  • Provide service to the respective department, college, university, community, and profession.
  • Adhere to UIW Faculty Handbook policies and processes.
  • Adhere to UIW policies and procedures as identified in Employee Handbook.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving and academic counseling skills.
  • Proficiency in (or ability to learn and effectively use) use of instructional technology.
  • Demonstrated expertise in an area of physical therapy practice.
  • Willingness to develop effective learning facilitation skills.
  • Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting the profession of physical therapy.
  • Ability to work independently with confidence and to effectively coordinate work with colleagues and peers.
  • Proficiency in human relations, communication, organizational, interpersonal, and academic counseling.
  • Proficiency in working collaboratively and effectively in a team.
  • Proficiency in multitasking, and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work collegially and productively within the university community.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education
  • Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program.
  • Earned academic (PhD, EdD, DSc) or clinical (DPT) doctoral degree.
Required Work Experience
  • No clinical experience required.
  • New graduates are welcome to apply.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Board Certified Specialty.
  • Active in clinical practice.
  • Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in Texas.
  • Member of the American Physical Therapy Association.
Work Hours
Hours may vary. Typically, at least 24 hours per week at the MHM Wesley Clinic.
