Temporary - AV Technician Assistant - (Instructional Technology Assistant) - College of Arts & Sciences

The College of Arts & Sciences has a full-time opportunity to be trained on the job in this one-year temporary role as Audio-Visual Technician Assistant. This role will provide on-call, end-user support of audio visual (AV) technologies installed and deployed throughout the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS). Working independently under the general supervision of the Audio-Visual Manager, the AV Technician Assistant delivers high level user assistance in all teaching classrooms, as well as provides AV support in conference room spaces and occasionally serves as the on-site technician for events for CAS.

Responsibilities Include:
* Perform maintenance of classroom AV systems and components under the guidance of the AV Manager
* Offer basic AV instructions to end-users on operating classroom equipment
* Assist in addressing AV Help Desk requests and escalate issues as needed
* Respond promptly to inquiries via email, phone, and in person

This position experiences yearly rhythms in accordance with the academic calendar. The weeks surrounding the beginning of new semesters are busy with long days providing end-user support. Day-to-day throughout the academic semester includes support for classroom instruction and ongoing maintenance/replacement efforts. Class breaks and the summer period are filled with larger system upgrades, planned repairs, and routine scheduled maintenance. AV department office hours are Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., daily and weekly schedules remain flexible to accommodate AV support needs and off-hours maintenance, while ensuring a balanced work-life dynamic.


This is a one year, full time, benefits eligible position.


Required Qualifications:

High school diploma. 6 months-2 years' experience in a hands-on audio/video environment or equivalent capabilities.


Must have the stamina to travel extensively between A&S buildings on a daily basis and in all weather conditions. Routinely move and/or lift up to fifty (50) pounds, and climb an eight (8) foot ladder. Flexible hours a plus.


The AV Technician Assistant must possess the following skills:

  • Basic time management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team
  • Capacity to interact effectively with a diverse range of individuals, including faculty, staff, students, and visitors

  • Basic documentation and organizational skills

Candidates should project a professional image and demonstrate the ability to handle various situations with tact and diplomacy. They should also exhibit a willingness to learn and grow in their role.

Pay Range $24-$25/hr
