Brief Summary of Work for this Position
Temporary Athletics Sports Turf Managers
This position is responsible for the landscape, maintenance, and turf grass program (natural and artificial) management for the Athletics Department. This includes all athletic fields and surrounding grounds including Brooks Field, UNCW Baseball Practice Field, Boseman Field, UNCW Soccer Stadium, UNCW Soccer Practice Field, and Harold Greene Track Complex.
Responsibilities include:
· This position will fill a need for temporary work involving the upkeep and minor maintenance of an assigned area within athletic areas.
· This position typically assists permanent athletic staff with mowing of athletic fields and common spaces, trimming grass, blowing, edging walks and driveways. Also assist with dirt infield maintenance that may include dragging, watering and fixing dirt areas on fields. 
· Perform general grounds maintenance to include trash pick-up, new landscaping, irrigation installation, edging, pruning, mowing and general manicuring of all athletic areas. 
· This role may perform other manual tasks as assigned.
· Possible Game management for UNCW Baseball and Softball; field lining, field maintenance, field repair, irrigation management and waste management.
Note – some weekend and evening work might be required.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Must be highly dependable, flexible, and available to work evenings and weekends.
  • Some Turf degree of horticulter, turf management or related field

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

· Ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work
· A working knowledge of landscape maintenance and the ability to operate small equipment
· Ability to follow directions and learn new skills while on the job
