CCA seeks a skilled administrator and co-curricular educator to help prepare students to find post-graduate career success through programming and career coaching. The TEMPORARY Assistant Director Career Development will engage in functional responsibilities shared with the entire Career Development team, such as providing direct service to students via workshops and coaching appointments and will also have specific areas of emphasis. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has the capability to work at the intersection of academic affairs and student affairs and who is simultaneously an effective administrator, skilled communicator, creative thinker, and educator.

This position engages in functional support responsibilities with the entire Career Development team, such as providing support for direct services to students such as workshops, programs, and large scale events. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has the capability to work as an effective support staff member, skilled communicator, creative thinker, and event planner. The incumbent will seek innovative ways to plan, coordinate, organize and market CDO events, workshops, and service at all stages of students’ professional development.
This is a temporary, full-time position at approximately 37.5 hours per week. This position is expected to run Feb. 21, 2022 - April 15, 2022.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Career Advising:
Provide one-on-one career coaching advice, skills development and feedback to CCA students in undergraduate and graduate programs, and alumni
Career Advise students: in-person and online, individually —guiding the development of professional identities and individual career action plans, evaluate students works, provide critical feedback.
Present career related online, and in-class workshops and presentations, such as but not limited to the following topics such as portfolios, resumes, internship success, career basic, best career practices, company background, employer expectations, interviewing skills, resume writing across Fine Arts, Humanities, Design and Architecture fields
Provide support to CCA’s significant international population; deploy technology to provide services to such students (and alumni) in their home countries.
Support all aspects of (30+ events and virtual workshops per semester), this includes event planning (Creative Connections Fair, Career Expo, Recent Grad Week, Career Basic Workshops, International and Career Week Commencement Programming)
Informational Tabling) by meeting project, planning, and marketing deadlines
Assist in administrative duties and support, such as but not limited to program planning, job board oversight and review, social media, online marketing and website updates
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Experience with higher education, administrative or nonprofit organization, or other similar environment preferred. Preference for experience at higher-ed art and design institutions
Associate, BA/BFA/MEd/MFA degree preferred
Experience as career advising/coach, event planner and/or coordinator (online/in-person)
Preferred experience with career development, career advising, community college, higher education populations, online career coaching
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
Organizational skills, including multitasking, time management
Passion and support for all students regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability, nationality and/or language
Ability to balance collaborative and independent work
Excellent written, oral, social media-based and interpersonal communication skills
Sensitivity to the needs/issues of students in the arts/design/architecture fields preferred
Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite: Word/Excel and general computer skills
Ability to transport or access transportation for job requirements on each campus
Please note that in an effort to keep the CCA community safe, the College has made the decision to require all staff, faculty, and students on campus to be fully vaccinated by September 1, 2021. The job responsibilities of this position will require time regularly spent on campus, and therefore the incumbent will be asked to follow the CCA vaccination requirement, unless an exemption is approved.
