Description

The University of Montana Western is seeking applicants to fill a one-course temporary Chemistry adjunct position in the Biology Department during the 2024 spring semester.

We are looking for an individual to teach one section of CHMY141 (College Chemistry 1)-Block 7, March 11, 2024 through April 3, 2024.

Montana Western uses a block schedule where our classes meet for at least three hours each day for 17 or 18 instructional days.  The Biology Department’s courses are designed to provide students with authentic experiential learning opportunities that integrate both lecture and lab/field topics most days of the block.  This is an outstanding opportunity for candidates who are trying to gain undergraduate teaching experience, or for candidates who would like to experience what teaching on a unique block schedule involves.  This course is capped at an enrollment of only 24 students.  Current faculty that have experience teaching this course in the block format will be available to offer assistance.

Requirements

Candidates with an earned Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field are preferred, but ABD and candidates with an earned M.S. degree will also be seriously considered.  Candidates with experience and evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching in general chemistry will be given preference.
