Position Summary

UNM Los Alamos anticipates hiring Temporary Part-Time faculty to teach on-line and/or face-to-face Robotics courses at the 100 or 200 level. This is a continuous recruitment beginning in the Summer 2024 semester. Positions are contingent upon the need of each semester as determined by student enrollment levels and current course offering. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Applicants hired from this requisition will be considered for the next requisition.

UNM-Los Alamos is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico located approximately 90 miles northwest of Albuquerque. UNM-Los Alamos emphasizes teaching excellence and offers academic transfer courses, as well as vocational and technical courses to the citizens of Los Alamos County and northern New Mexico.

UNM-LA instructors are responsible for all aspects of any class they are teaching including but not limited to meeting with the class during assigned times, content delivery, assignment development, grading assignments, reporting of grades, and assessment of student learning as outlined by the Program Coordinator.  Strong preference is given to candidates who reside in New Mexico and who are available to teach a face-to-face class at least once a week in Los Alamos.

Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by student enrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven by graduation requirements.  Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses.   Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to the Program Coordinator overseeing this curriculum area.

Wages

Adjunct Faculty in the UNM LOS ALAMOS CAMPUS are currently compensated on the basis of their credentials and credit hour course loads, as follows:

Bachelors                           $848.00
Masters                              $912.00
PhD                                    $975.00

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

1.      Bachelor’s degree in related field, OR

2.      5 years of experience designing and programming robots in industrial settings, OR

3.      5 years of experience teaching the design and programming of robots in an academic setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

1.      Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary institution

2.      A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.

3.      Practical experience programming and working with robotic applications in industry

4.      New Mexico residence, and availability to teach face-to-face classes in Los Alamos at least once per week.
