Brief Summary of Work for this Position
Teach one or more sections of a University College course; UNI 101: First-Year Seminar or UNI 201: Transfer Seminar.
The University College seminar courses are 3-credit hour courses designed to support students in optimizing their UNCW Experience. The courses focus on building community, campus resources, academic planning, career exploration, and overall adjustment to UNCW. Information literacy, self-management, and effective academic strategies are core components of these courses. UNI 101/102: First-Year Seminar is a graduation requirement of all first-year students and meets the Information Literacy competency for University Studies. In the fall semester, UNI 101 is offered as a traditional section, as a part of a Living Learning Community or as a Special Topic course. In the spring semester, UNI101 is offered as a traditional section for First-Year Spring Admit students and Remix sections for students who did not complete the UNI requirement in the fall semester.
UNI 201: Transfer Seminar, focused on supporting transfer and military students, meets the Information Literacy and Writing Intensive competencies for University Studies. UNI 201 can be taught as a Traditional Section or as an Early College Section.
UNI Instructors are expected to teach on-campus, with the majority of classes being between 8:00AM and 4:45PM.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Master’s Degree, previous college-level teaching experience, academic advising or student counseling.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Previous UNI 101 or 201 teaching experience, experience working with first-year or transfer college students.

Please note, this is a temporary position. The length of the assignment will be based on department need with the possibility of continuation. Employees in temporary positions are not considered permanent state employees and do not earn leave. Temporary employees are subject to the Affordable Care Act guidelines.
