Description of Work Unit
The Career Center is part of the Division of Student Affairs with strong and broad-reaching relationships and responsibilities throughout campus, including the academic colleges. Divided into three units (Career Education; Employer Relations; and Operations), the Career Center not only provides career-related-advising and -services to students, it fills many additional functions critical to the success of the university and students, including, but not limited to, campus-wide career fair coordination and job/internship postings, employer relations, institutional career outcome reporting, and campus-wide student employee development. The Career Center is responsible to a variety of internal and external stakeholders and leverages those relationships to help students investigate the many available professional opportunities, with special consideration for finding paths that meet their skills, goals, values, and unique identities. Position Summary
The Technology Coordinator is responsible for support and maintenance of all computer technology at the Career Center. The Technology Coordinator is also responsible for the development, maintenance, and technical guidance for the Career Center’s web site and additional web programming and applications.
Required Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with two years of computer technical support experience with both Windows and iOS computer environments
  • Demonstrated personal and professional commitment to diversity as demonstrated by persistent effort, active planning, allocation of resources and/or accountability for diversity outcomes
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing quality customer service
  • Experience using WordPress or similar technology to develop websites
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience writing/updating code in C# (preferred), C++, Java Script, HTML, Python or other programming language
  • Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills, follow-through, management of multiple projects and attention to detail required
  • Experience evaluating multiple technology options and recommending a course of action
  • Experience with current University systems (e.g. Kuali Financial, Oracle, etc.)
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of computer hardware, software, printers, scanners, A/V set-ups, and networks
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly explain a technical problem in simple terms
  • Demonstrated experience in communicating effectively via email and/or a ticketing system
  • Experience hiring, training and/or supervising student or professional staff

Essential Duties

  • Provide Career Center Leadership Team with information and recommended technology goals to help inform the selection and integration of new applications and vended systems
  • Develop process for managing and delivering technology services to the Career Center staff
  • Purchase, configure and deploy new computer systems including both Windows and iOS operating systems
  • Manage Linux server which houses in-house applications and databases
  • Provide consistent and timely technology support such as diagnostics, repairs and solution development to Career Center staff

  • Serve as a point of contact for vended technology systems and applications
  • Participate in the evaluation, implementation, and maintenance of new vended and in-house built applications

  • Develop and maintain technology inventory system and active directory
