Primary Purpose of Department
The Office of OneIT provides highly reliable information technology infrastructure, tools, and services to empower the University to achieve its academic, research, administrative, and service goals.
Primary Purpose of Position
This position works as part of the College of Computing & Informatics Technology Solution Office’s software research and development team. This position works on software development and technology implementation projects and provides consulting services to research teams and labs within computing and informatics. This position has particular expertise in software development and technology architecture and is an expert on current and emerging technologies including cloud environments (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) to support research and development.
Summary of Position Responsibilities
The employee’s principal responsibilities are to serve as an expert in the areas of technology architecture and software development with the TSO. In this role, the employee’s responsibilities include: 
-Providing research, consulting, and technology solutions to support research and development projects. 
-Serving as a resident expert on current and emerging technologies to support research and development within the college as well as university solution architecture. 
- Providing expertise through the planning, design, implementation, testing, and deployment stages of the TSO software development efforts. 
-Working with clients to translate needs into innovative technology and/or software solutions. 
-Documenting and communicating product and prototype requirements to the TSO.
Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
-At least five years of experience leading software design/architecture efforts 
-Broad and cutting-edge knowledge of new and emerging technologies, solutions, and trends 
-Skilled in multi-tiered web and mobile application development, preferably using a model-view-controller (MVC) software architecture 
-Demonstrated ability to craft multi-faceted technology solutions 
-Skilled with translating customer needs into innovative technology solutions 
-Excellent written and oral communication skills 
-Strong project management skills
