About the Health Tech Hub at Cornell Tech

The Health Tech Hub at Cornell Tech will bring together technologists and clinical researchers, clinical practitioners and care delivery organizations and payors, and big tech and health tech entrepreneurs, to shape the innovation ecosystem and to create technologies that safely and effectively improve patients’ lives without burdening the healthcare system. The Technologist in Residence is a technical expert who will support faculty/students, hub director and fellows in execution of specialization projects and lab-based research. They will help bring to life the ideas of the Jacobs Health Tech students, Health Tech related PhD students, Runway postdocs, and Health Tech Fellows and serve as the director of the health tech hardware lab. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop complex hardware prototypes and embedded platforms related to health sensing and interventions  - 40%

  • Assist Health Tech program director in creating new course proposals, providing course support and help with annual Health Tech summit - 20%

  • Manage hardware lab and equipment. Ensure and recommend appropriate laboratory safety and protocols for compliance - 15%

  • Assist Jacobs faculty in planning and preparation of research papers and grants - 10%

  • Plan, supervise, and assist student, faculty, and Jacob startup companies in running experiments utilizing novel hardware prototypes, perform iterative design and improvements, review progress and evaluate results - 10%

  • Design and develop training for use of laboratory techniques; train users in complex equipment operation; recommend, develop and implement new technology - 5%

This is a full-time, benefits eligible position fixed-term for 1 year with possibility of extension. This position is grant-funded and extension is contingent upon funding and performance. Cornell Tech staff are currently working a hybrid schedule.

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in software and hardware engineering in health technologies. Portfolio of projects should be provided. Track record of engaging with maker community and open-source projects.
