Position Summary

The Department of Neurology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center is a unique interdisciplinary research environment specializing in human genetics and genomics. We are searching to fill a Technician B position to support research on rodent and human stem cell models of neurological disease in the laboratory of Dr. Christopher Makinson.


Responsibilities

  • Genotyping and maintenance of rodent colonies, maintenance and differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells (hPSC), stereotaxic surgery, molecular biology, and lab management support.
  • Additional general laboratory duties will also be assigned, such as mycoplasma testing and ordering reagents.
  • The incumbent will receive on the job training for responsibilities as needed based on qualifications and will have the opportunity to learn state-of-the-art approaches such as the generation of human brain organoids from stem cells, functional imaging, and electrophysiology.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics or related science or equivalent of education, training, and experience.
