Position Summary

The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Technician A to join our team in a full time position to work within the division of Allergy, Immunology & Rheumatology. Columbia University Irving Medical Center’s Department of Pediatrics is a world leader in providing care for children. Our mission areas include Healthcare, Education and Research. Our Clinical, Translational and Basic Science research features collaborations across specialties and stretches from the bench to bedside. We also have several active Clinical trials available to our patients. This position will support the department by providing day-to-day support and assistance in ongoing research projects for the Laboratory of Dr. Joshua Milner, Division Chief. Studies performed in the Milner Laboratory largely focuses on the immunopathogenesis of genetic diseases that lead to allergy and immune dysregulation.

Responsibilities

• • Provide support and assistance to ongoing laboratory research projects.
  • Assist with wet bench experiments; the initiation and execution of new protocols and projects.
  • Keeping records of test project results; filing patient charts/data; assisting in the collection of samples for experimental or diagnostic purposes.
  • To maintain mouse colonies; tracking and ordering reagents.
  • Assisting with eliciting information from patients and their families in accordance with structured interview procedures.
  • Perform library and online literature research; assisting with the preparation of PowerPoint presentations; preparing manuscript, abstract and grants and performing other related duties necessary to the functioning of the research projects.

Minimum Qualifications

• Two years of college or a completed A.A. program with an emphasis in chemistry, biology or physics or a completed animal husbandry program.
• One year of related experience, or equivalent in education, training and/ or experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Some early morning, weekend, and evening hours.
