Job Summary
The Technical Supervisor for Theatre, Dance & Media is part of the production team and reports to the Production Manager. The Technical Supervisor is responsible for the training and supervision of students, production staff, and other support staff, as well as the supervision and maintenance of physical resources in TDM spaces.
They play a key role supporting a large and growing number of Faculty, Concentrators, and non-concentration students in increasingly diverse and technical modes of art making. The role requires possessing and maintaining multiple areas of highly technical expertise to support the needs of the concentration and other users of TDM managed facilities. The Technical Supervisor is required to autonomously shift modes and identify priorities in support of several concurrent projects.
Position Description
• Supervisory Responsibilities: Train & Supervise production staff, student employees, temporary & over hire crews, and students/faculty in the use of AV Systems, Lighting, Sound, Scenic Shop, production role responsibilities, design processes, and generate staffing schedules & workflows. Generate and maintain comprehensive training protocols and documentation.
• Operations Coordination: Plan, schedule, coordinate, and supervise technical equipment load ins/load outs, strikes, special event setups, live streams, piano tunings, system maintenance work
• Curricular/Classroom Support: Technology installations and support for TDM classes, thesis project support and technical guidance Technical Responsibilities:
• Design new system solutions for infrastructural improvements and special projects, research, and budget creation, purchasing, oversee installation of new systems.
• Facility/Plant Maintenance: maintain existing infrastructure and inventories, coordinate with building supervisor, initiate and facilitate Farkas Hall physical plant maintenance, generate accurate documentation
• Administration: Financial reconciliation, engage with wider staff priorities, support larger curricular initiatives as needed.
Basic Qualifications
BA in Theatre/Technical Theatre or similar; 3-5 years professional experience.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
MFA in Technical Theatre, University experience, Professional certifications (OSHA 10, ETCP Rigging Safety, MA Crowd Management, others).

Physical Requirements
The position requires a good deal of physical work including pushing, lifting, pulling, climbing, work at heights, work in tight spaces, work in woodshop environments, work in dark environments.

-ETC/Theatrical Lighting Systems, inclusive of instrumentation, dimming and communication networks, various control consoles and programming softwares -Live Sound Reinforcement/Recording/Playback, including Loudspeaker installations, Analogue and Dante Sound Systems, Digital Signal Processor systems, Mixing Consoles, Computer interfaces, Conventional and Wireless Microphone technologies, Networked Control systems and software (various), assisted listening and communication systems. -AV/Media Systems including projector technologies, video capture and encoding, editing software, live streaming, computer networking, control software (Qlab, Isadora), Crestron presentation systems -Diverse Construction Techniques and Scenic Shop tools including table saws, power cutting tools, drills, routers, pneumatics, specialized hardware, rigging tools, electrical tools, etc.
