The Technical Services Archivist is responsible for all aspects of the arrangement and description of assigned manuscript and archival collections, predominantly focusing on materials documenting American and Global South history and culture. The archivist processes collections in all formats, and contributes to backlog and historical collection management and redescription efforts. They bring an inclusive description approach to their archival processing projects, and contribute to RLTS name authorities and subject headings workflows. They will also serve as the department’s internship coordinator, assisting with hiring, onboarding, and communication for Technical Services interns and intern supervisors. Responsibilities

They are also expected to take the time to effectively plan and evaluate performance, provide feedback, recognition and coaching, and develop employees to achieve their personal and organizational goals Education: Required: Master’s degree with a concentration in library science or archives from an ALA-accredited program or an advanced degree in history, literature, or a related field or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. Preferred: Humanities-related coursework or advanced degree in Southern or American history or literature. Experience: Required: 3 or more years of experience processing archival collections or institutional records in a university archives, special collections library, or government archives setting; demonstrated ability to independently manage large or complex archival processing projects; experience with using ArchivesSpace; working knowledge of archival and library metadata standards (DACS, EAD, RDA, MARC); experience with OCLC cataloging utilities and local integrated library systems such as Aleph or FOLIO; experience with creation and updating of authority records to LC/NACO authority file; excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; flexibility and ability to adapt to change; ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Preferred: Experience supervising or managing students or interns at a library; experience processing pre-twentieth century manuscript materials; ability to read and translate primary sources in one of the following languages: Spanish, French, Hebrew, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Haitian Creole. Working Conditions
Salary and Benefits Salary and rank commensurate with experience; the anticipated range is $60,000-$78,000. Comprehensive benefits package includes 20 days vacation, 14 holidays, 12 days sick leave; health, dental, disability and life insurance and support for professional development and training.
