Job Summary
The University of Kentucky Institute for Biomedical Informatics (IBI) facilitates data-intensive, multidisciplinary team science across our campus research community, in Kentucky, and beyond. Within IBI, the Center for Applied Artificial Intelligence (CAAI) works at the forefront of cutting-edge technology actively contributing to the future landscape of AI innovation and practice.
We are seeking a passionate Technical Project Specialist to play a pivotal role in navigating the uncharted territory of experimental projects in applied artificial intelligence. This role goes beyond traditional project management and requires adaptability, collaboration, and the ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment. This position will follow a hybrid schedule working both on-campus and at home.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Health Advocacy: Take ownership of the health and progress of various activities, engagements, and funded experimental projects. Assess and pivot strategies to ensure successful outcomes in an experimental context.

  • Dynamic Collaboration: Act as the central point of contact connecting collaborators, staff, and faculty. Facilitate effective communication, manage expectations, and cultivate a collaborative environment that drives innovation.

  • Resource Juggling: Prioritize and manage resource requests to support ongoing experimental initiatives. Understand the dynamic needs of each project and efficiently allocate resources.

  • Competency Promotion: Champion and showcase the team’s competencies amidst the experimental nature of projects. Highlight achievements and capabilities to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Adaptive Problem-Solving: Navigate uncertainties, adapt swiftly to changes, and proactively find solutions in an experimental work environment.

  • Communication and Coordination: Maintain seamless communication channels among team members, stakeholders, and collaborators. Update and align all involved parties on project progress, shifts in strategy, and emerging challenges.
