Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Technical Coordinator plays a strong role in ensuring the highest standards related to the success of all events. The Technical Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to plan and manage the day-to-day activities related to the successful mounting of events. This supports the work of the Operations Department by ensuring that all deadlines and budgets are met in a safe and timely manner while maintaining an effective production process and promoting a positive educational environment. This position promotes a safe and productive workplace by ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures. Some evening and weekend work is required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in technical theatre or related field OR equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.


Experience:

  • 3 years of progressive experience in the performing arts.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience with a wide variety of scenic materials and techniques which can include wood, plastic, fabric, metalworking, rigging, automation and CNC programming.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to create, read, interpret, and work from blueprints, CAD drawings, and specifications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to enforce safety standards and participate in first aid, CPR, university, and professional training.
Preferences:
Preferences:
  • Masters or MFA in a related field.
  • Experience in a higher education setting.
  • Experience in a teaching environment.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and VectorWorks.
  • ETCP certification a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately estimate and complete scenery within budget and schedule.
  • Demonstrated ability to technically design and engineer both complex and simple scenery.
Additional Certifications:
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
Additional Information:
  • Salary range: $52,000 to $64,311, commensurate with experience.
  • Candidates must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the USA. No visa sponsorship is offered for this position.
  • The University also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including 22 Days Annual Leave; 15 Days Sick Leave; 3 Days Personal Leave; 15 Paid Holidays; Tuition Remission; Health, Dental, Vision and Prescription coverage. This position may be telework eligible up to (1) day per week, subject to supervisor approval.

  • Must be able to work from ladders and scaffolding; to work from catwalk heights of 60’.
  • Must be able to lift and manipulate objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to manipulate equipment, tools, supplies and/or exert force up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in hazardous environments, confined spaces, and to wear and work in personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
