Position Summary:Applies electrodes and various monitors to multiple, body sites per protocol. Measures wake, sleep, and breathing states utilizing multiple instruments. Records brainwave signals from scalp electrodes, signals from nasal and oral airways, signals from chest and abdominal strain gauges, cardiac rate, oxygen saturation and position to assess and diagnose disorders of sleep and breathing. Works closely with medical director to interpret data. Assists in training non-registered PSG Technologists needing proficiency assistance in performing PSG, MSLT, Oximetry studies. Operates under direction. Ensures adherence to Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures. Patient care assignment may include: Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric age groups.Accountability:

  • PCMH/PCSP - Adhere to and promote the core expectations of the Patient Centered Medical Home or Patient Centered Specialty Practice as applicable

  • PATIENT CARE - Calibrate polygraph, computer, oximeters, respitrace, movement monitors and patient electrodes prior to the onset of each recording

  • PATIENT CARE - Instruct patient about testing procedure to put them at ease so optimal test results can be obtained

  • PATIENT CARE - Apply electrodes and respiratory monitors to predesignated body sites

  • PATIENT CARE - Must be able to prepare and record 2 (two) Polysomnogram and a maximum of three (3) patients per night according to protocol

  • PATIENT CARE - Must administer Continuous Positive Airway Pressure on specified patients according to physician orders

  • PATIENT CARE - Responsible for patient safety and comfort during PSG procedure

  • REPORTS - Familiar with patient data filing system so can retrieve reports as needed; able to give physician results over the phone

  • REPORTS - Make patient log documentation and notations on each patient tested

  • REPORTS - Analyze patient data and summarize on report for physician interpretation

  • SUPPLIES - Manage linen, office supplies and procedure items assuring sufficient supply

  • MAINTENANCE - Responsible for troubleshooting and performing routine maintenance on all testing equipment

  • STANDARDS - Responsible for assuring Lab Accreditation standards are maintained

  • OTHER - Assist lab manager with other duties as requested

  • CUSTOMER/STAFF RELATIONS - Establish and maintain good rapport and effective working relationships with patients, visitors, physicians and Hospital employees

  • DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops

  • PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols

  • PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes

  • PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk

  • PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner

  • PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"

  • Education Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • Experience Requirements:
  • 1 year directly related experience

  • Licensure/Certification Requirements:
  • CPR Certification for Healthcare/BLS Providers or for Professional Rescuers or must obtain within 30 calendar days of date of position

  • RPSGT or RRT with NBRC Sleep Specialty Credential

  • NM RRT License or NM PSGT License w/i 90 days of position

  • Education Requirements - Preferred:
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline

  • Grad PSG Pgm

  • Experience Requirements - Preferred:
  • 2 years directly related experience

  • Bilingual English/Spanish

  • Bilingual English/Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo

  • Physical Demands Requirements:
  • Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

  • Testing Requirements:
  • Tuberculosis testing is completed upon hire and additionally as required

  • Working Conditions Requirements:
