Salary Plan: Temporary, 25 hours per week

Hiring Salary: $15.32 an hour

The College of Arts & Sciences, St. Petersburg Campus, Department of Integrative Biology is searching for a Teaching Laboratory Specialist with the following duties:

Assist in preparation of microbiological media.

Assist in preparation of all materials and supplies for the Biology teaching labs (15 courses/yr, 8-10/semester).

Responsible for setup and breakdown of biology teaching labs.

Provide logistic, technical, and instructional support to lab instructors and students during labs.

Involved in keeping laboratory prep guides current and updated.

Responsible for maintenance of stock microbiology cultures.

Assist in beta testing of new protocols - provide feedback to lab manager.

Monitor materials and supplies inventories. Inform lab manager of ordering needs.

Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires high school and two years of work experience in instructional or laboratory work. College coursework may be substituted for the required experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

An Undergraduate degree with some coursework in microbiology and genetics. Previous microbiology and/or genetics laboratory experience.
