Job Description:

This is a support position that will manage and coordinate the functions and setup of the demonstrations for the undergraduate Physics Lectures. Responsibilities include the management of the budget; purchase and inventory control of laboratory materials and equipment; lab safety; maintenance, design and modification of demo equipment; computers and supplies. The appointee will be expected to complete a training program by the Environmental Health and Safety and OSHA. Additional duties for this position include the development, management, and integration of online course material, e.g., lab kits for online sections of the labs. For the setup of the demos physical requirements include lifting items of up to 30 pounds with or without accommodation. The appointee will also manage and expand on the documentation of the extensive collection of physics demo equipment and materials.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.

• Applies senior-level professional knowledge and expertise to work requiring greater latitude
• Solves moderately complex problems and regularly exercises judgment to determine appropriate action
• Regularly exercises judgment to resolve problems and determine appropriate action on a broad set of issue and problems. May provide recommendations regarding problems/issues outside the bounds of defined procedures and practices
• Responds to complicated inquiries, provides training, and provides direction to lower-level staff
• May provide supervision for one to two other staff (i.e., leads a small work team)
• May lead projects for which well-defined practices and procedures may not exist
• Provides guidance to students
