JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of English at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for full-time teaching faculty positions (non-tenure-track). The start date for these positions is August 2024.  

Duties include teaching in-resident courses in the Department of English.

Appointment will be at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, or Teaching Professor of English. Rank is based on degree and experience. 

Lecturers and Assistant Teaching Professors teach seven courses per year; Associate Teaching Professors and Teaching Professors teach six. 

These are term appointments with the possibility of renewal. Length of term is determined by rank and qualifications.

A Master’s degree or higher in English or a related field is required by the appointment date. In addition, the successful candidate must either have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community, or describe one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity.

This position may require the following three (3) clearances identified below or a standard background check:

  • PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form 

  • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
