Teaching Faculty of Chemistry - 000909

The University of Richmond Department of Chemistry invites applications for the position of Teaching Faculty of Chemistry with primary responsibilities in organic chemistry to begin August 2024.

This is a continuing 9-month, non-tenure-track position. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in organic chemistry or similar field prior to the start date and experience teaching undergraduates. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching across the introductory curriculum, including a knowledge of pedagogical trends and practices for sustaining an innovative program in chemistry. This faculty member is expected to teach a total of eight lecture and/or lab sections each academic year, focusing primarily on the organic chemistry sequence. This position may also contribute to our General Chemistry courses, including our SMART interdisciplinary course . In addition to teaching-related duties, academic advising and service on department and/or university committees is expected.

The chemistry department offers a vibrant program that equips students with hands-on experimental chemistry skills for success in many areas of employment, graduate and professional school, and other post-graduation opportunities. The department aims to make chemistry accessible to all students and seeks colleagues who share these goals of broadening access to STEM disciplines in general, and chemistry in particular.
