Position Announcement

Utah Valley University is seeking a part-time Teaching Assistant! Part-time employee with a department in the Woodbury School of Business, the Teaching Assistant works with a faculty member in the planning, facilitating, and coordination of a course. Functions as peer leader, helps students by moderating discussions, planning activities and informational opportunities, and serving as role model, mentor and liaison.  About 5 hours a week.


Summary of Responsibilities

  • Weekly training meeting with instructor in order to assist the instructor in planning, facilitating and coordination of course(s); by reviewing and discussing the course description in the UVU catalog, the instructors' syllabus, manage Canvas shells (manage discussions, update dates, make announcements, post videos, slides and other content, etc.) and grade student work, for lead instructors, review adjunct shells.. Assist in preparing the room, equipment, and supplies necessary for the days instruction.
  • Provides supplemental Q&A hours. Serves the students as a peer leader, discussion moderator. Plans Activities and informational opportunities. Is a role model, mentor and liaison. Reinforce learning in F2F sessions through examples, activities, and discussions. F2F—lead discussions and in-class activities. Assist in grading for courses with heavy loads.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Current UVU Student

Preferred Qualifications:  

Completion of course with a 3.0 or better
