Position Summary

The Creative Writing Program and The Writing Program in the Department of English and Comparative Literature at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks to hire a Teaching Assistant Professor for a three year contract who will be responsible for teaching 6 courses: a mixture of English composition and rhetoric, as well as poetry courses in English and American literature. In recruiting a successful candidate the outcomes would have students completing courses both with an understanding of contemporary poetry and the breadth of styles available in writing it in poetry courses and a solid foundation of writing in ENGL 105 courses. This position caries an annual salary of $45,000 plus benefits.

Educational Requirements

M.F.A. in Creative Writing with a focus on Poetry or a related field.

Qualifications and Experience

Must have teaching experience in Writing and Composition. Have at least one published book of poetry or one under contract. The successful candidate should be published widely in journals and periodicals, and College teaching experience.
