Position Overview
The Department of Social and Cultural Sciences is hiring a Teaching Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) to teach undergraduate courses in sociology, including SOCI 1001 (Principles of Sociology), SOCI 3200 (Social Problems in Urban Society), and upper-division electives in their areas of expertise. We have needs for courses on Collective Behavior & Social Movements, Education, Global Migration, Popular Culture, and Sports but are open to all areas of focus. The position is for 9 months and begins in August 2024, with the possibility of reappointment for subsequent terms. Candidates from underrepresented groups are especially encouraged to apply. 
Duties and Responsibilities
Applicants will be fully responsible for course design, content, syllabus preparation, and delivery, grading exams and papers. Courses must be offered in person. Must maintain a minimum of three office hours per week. All full-time faculty are expected to attend faculty meetings.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Earned doctorate or a terminal degree. Five years of teaching experience or other suitable professional experience.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
A PhD in Sociology or related social science field is required by the time of appointment. ABDs with a clear timeline for completion before the start of employment will be considered. Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
